One the duties of my job is to recruit and hire new employees. People who are interested in working for us will apply on our website. Every so often I'll pull out applicant names and send out a blind email to a group of them. In the email I'll mention some work that we have coming up, what our pay rate is, etc. When I do this I usually get 15-20 positive responses and 2-3 replies from people who are no longer interested.
And yesterday I got this response: "I wouldn't work for your company if you paid me to."
Two things about that confuse me. First, why did this person apply in the first place, and second, what sort of offer did s/he think I was making?
